Benicia Emergency Response
Training Teams, 300 strong and ready
By Constance Beutel
BENICIA, CA / November 19, 2007, 7:30 AM Benicia
now has nearly 300 BERT (Benicia Emergency Response Teams) trained volunteer
members. The motto of the Emergency Response program is "Neighbors helping
Neighbors." This successful program, sponsored and supported by the
Benicia Fire Department, is one of the most active volunteer response programs
in Solano County. The goal for Benicia is to have 500 active members ready
to respond to any community disaster.
BERT volunteers train on a quarterly basis and meet annually at
a Muster. The video below this article provides a video view of the annual
muster.
Anyone interested in becoming a BERT member by going through formal training,
can sign-up via the Benicia Citizen Core Council webpage: www.beniciaccc.org/.
